A Cold Walk Home

Today me and my Dad went to go on a walk to a big river near a house we rented in Vermont. It was about 10 feet wide and we cant even see where it ends. There was tons of rocks in the river some small and some big. When we got to the river we crossed it and it was pretty easy. We were looking for snakes and red efts but we didn't find any. I think we didn't see any because it was pretty cold. I hope on the way back to our real house we can stop by Lost Lake, a hike whare we always find red efts and every time we go we find water snakes. We past a few areas where if I were a snake or newt I would be, but we never found anything. On the way back we crossed again in a different spot and I slipped. My dad tryed to hold my hand so I didn't fall but he slipped and both of our feet got soaked in water.

  1. Hey, Julian. Tuesday I went on a walk in Hart's Brook, the park we went to in the winter looking for owls. Because of all the rain we'd had, the paths and the low places in the woods were wet. In some places it just looked like trees growing out of ponds -- kind of like the vernal pond in Hillside. I tried thinking like a salamander or red eft, following your lead, but I had no luck either. I did find two geese at the pond there. One was sitting on an egg on a little island in the pond, and the other was following me around wherever I went around the pond. He was probably defending his territory (and his mate and baby). He came very close to me, looking me in the eye. I know they can be vicious, so I stayed out of range of his beak. I want to go back soon to see if I can count any more eggs (if he'll let me). All I could see was one, and it was quite large.
